Generality
For the last three months, the South East region of Madagascar has been suffering from an unprecedented famine, that according to the UN/OCHA, an estimated 2,300 families have been severely affected and 1,600 children are at immediate risk of dying from starvation, while more than 14,000 people face severe malnutrition and its long -term effect.
Objective Global
In response to the appeal for help from the local and national authorities, we are organizing a fundraising to help avert the famine and lessen its effects, particularly on children and older people. It is a matter of saving lives, so your contribution will make a big difference
Project Scope:
The projected fund raising is aimed to support the initiative of a local minister, Reverend Raharivola Jean Donne. Reverend Raharivola Jean-Donne who was referred to us by the regional emergency authority, works on providing foods and medication to malnourished children in the circumscription of Vohitrambo in the county of Vangaindrano II and wish to get support on his action. The southeast region of Madagascar like other region in the Island, suffers from lack of transportation infrastructures, thus roads if exist are in a very impracticable state. Vohitrambo is a main village in a remote area and is amongst hit by the drought and flood that provoked the aforementioned famine. Because of its inaccessibility, the area was forgotten and did not get the humanitarian help that it desperately needed.
Objective Specifics:
Fund collected will be send entirely to the Reverend Raharivola Jean-Donne and the local active members, the Fizami, to support purchasing foods and needed medication for this area. Project active members in Madagascar are required as committed to report their activities and accomplishments done to all Project active members and Fundraising committee here in the U.S.A.
